DZIA – International Author License

Artists, writers, graphic designers, motion artists…. are no longer absent from the commercial landscape today. Their works are used in TV spots, trademark registrations, illustrations for newsletters, menus… In short, their contribution is essential.

The Customer

DZIA is an Antwerp-based artist (“muralist”) who dresses walls around the world with his animal-focused works.

The Project

IFORI supported DZIA in negotiating with an international commercial player, for the use of one of its works:

  • Advice and taking necessary steps to strengthen initial legal status
  • Negotiate with opposing party, on behalf of DZIA
  • Editing final license agreement

The Outcome

Good and clear agreementwith counterparty, rather than a one-sided purchase order of the customer.

  • Maximum protection of legal status DZIA
  • Fair compensation (vs. initial offer)
  • Legal certainty

Are you an artist yourself? Then you may have already found yourself in the situation where third parties commercially exploit your works without your permission and/or without any proper compensation.

We provide support to best protect your moral, economic and legal interests.
